Let it Pass

“If someone gave your body into the keeping of a passerby, you’d be furious. But you give your mind into the keeping of any random person, so that, if he maligns you, your mind becomes troubled and confused.” – Epictetus

Things happen, whether we ask for them or not. There’s little we can do about that. What we can control is how we respond. This is especially true for things said to us – their words, their opinions, and the issues they want us to carry.

Why, often, do we allow them to enter our minds, spend time and energy on disputing them internally? Particularly when we already know that they don’t come with good intentions. Why still bother?

Learn to let this pass, like clouds in the sky. They’re high up, you can see them, but they have no impact on you.
