There are things in life that transcend mere happiness or joy. These are the pursuits that ignite a passion within you, where time seems to stand still. I’ve written about this concept in my blog titled “Are You In The Zone.”
But how do we identify these passions? Here are a few tips to help you discover them:
1. Create a timeline that encompasses your childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and career.
2. Reflect on the activities that genuinely brought you joy during each stage, regardless of their size or significance.
3. As you review these memories, consider which ones have remained with you and which have evolved over time.
4. Look for commonalities, patterns, or themes that emerge from your observations.
5. Identify the specific aspects of these activities that ignited your joy and fulfillment in life.
Maybe you always like to be around people, join clubs, become a team captain, and volunteer with others. In your job you love to present on stage.
By uncovering your true passions, you gain insights into your Ikigai, the essence of your life purpose. This newfound clarity enables you to focus more intently on what truly matters to you, reducing distractions and allowing you to live a more purposeful life.
