“Never say of anything, ‘I have lost it’; but, ‘I have returned it’.” Epictetus
How often do we say: “This is mine. I own it.” You cling to it. The fear of loss keeps you awake at night. You spend energy and time of corralling your belongings. You lament about stuff that is taken from you.
The things you own start owning you.
How freeing will it be to change your perspective. Think about everything that is outside your control as just a gift you are enabled to enjoy temporarily; until it’s time to return it. No regret, no remorse, no grief.
What you truly control, your mind and your actions, stays with you. Even when everything or everyone else is gone.
